Finished Tank

Well I finally finished the P90 diagonal knit tank. It seemed like it took forever but I really like how it fits. It was an awful lot of garter stitch and the yarn was terrible to work with. It had knots and the shiny white thread kept pulling. I think it was the source of most of my problems. I used Filatura Lanarota ribbon yarn from Smileys. When will I ever learn to stop buying yarn just because it is on sale? Anyway, here it is.
I am having a little trouble concentrating lately on anything complicated in knitting. Maybe it is the extreme heat. I have ripped the Icarus shawl twice but am going to try it for the third time tomorrow. I have been making a lot of washcloths. So far four are completed but I have yarn for about a dozen. Really I am waiting for the next six sock knitalong sock pattern in two days. I've got the yarn all ready. That's my next project.

My Flip Flop Pal Is Tip Top!

Look at the wonderful package my Flip Flop Pal Kathy sent me. First, the most adorable flip flops in the greatest color. Then, the CD I have been wanting since it came out, Bruce Springsteen's The Seeger Sessions. Next the most perfect sock yarn, just in time for the August socks in Six Sock Knitalong. Also, a great little notebook to keep knitting notes and a beautiful card. Thanks so much Kathy. I really appreciate your great taste and thoughtfulness.

Sounds Right to Me

Despite a potentially vast audience in cyberspace, the Pew project found that 52 percent of bloggers said they blogged mostly for themselves. When asked for a major reason for blogging, 52 percent said it was to express themselves creatively and 50 percent said it was to document and share personal experiences.

This was in the New York Times today. Although I usually visualize an imaginary audience when I am writing, it is only me. I blog to join the group of knitting bloggers and to document what I am doing in knitting and, sometimes, in my life. But I do it for me. Sometimes I look at the comment numbers and sigh. Who do I expect to see this anyway? So I document, but don't expect to share it. But if anyone does want to read this, you are very, very welcome.

It was a very hot week here so it was hard doing too much knitting-or anything else. I've been working on the P90 tank and finally finished the front. Also, I did my first Mason Dixon Knitting washcloth. I wanted to use short needles so I used size 8's and the washcloth is a little loose. I have to get 7's. Isn't it cute though?
I'm planning to take the bus into NY Saturday so I'll have some knitting time. I may start my third The Amazing Lace partner-Icarus. I want to see the Dada show at MOMA and the new movie Heading South. I did send my Project Spectrum Swap partner her purple package this week. I also joined a Flip Flop Swap and sent that package off too.

My First MeMe

I haven't done much knitting this week. It has been so very hot and humid. I did start the p90 tank by Iris Schreier but didn't get too far. I'm using some ribbon yarn called Prato by Filatura Lanarota from Smileys.

What's In Your Notions Bag?
I found this meme on another blog. I use a child's pencil case that I got free. The contents vary but at present you can find:
1. Two cable needles although I never do cables
2. One sewing needle stuck in a piece of paper
3. Two handmade stitch markers
4. One six inch ruler good not good for much but I have a nice tape measure floating around in the bottom of my knitting bag
5. One size E crochet hook for picking up many dropped stitches or correcting mistakes
6. An eraser, pencil sharpener and a six inch ruler with cutouts that you can trace that came with it
The scissors is a part of a Leatherman Squirt that I keep on my keyring in my purse. I usually also have some yarn scraps. This list seems so sparse I think I'd better add to my contents.

The Amazing Lace Challenge #4

I have always wanted two long pony tails and here is my opportunity!

Meet my new teammate, Backyard Leaves.

A Little Blue

Just want to show my finished Sitcom Chic. It was really boring doing all the stockinette but the end result is worth it. It fits well and is very comfortable. I had a lot of trouble picking up the correct number of stitches along the fronts so they are a little uneven but it is not too noticeable. It really needs a button but I haven't found one I like yet.
Also, I want to thank my Project Spectrum swap pal for the wonderful package she sent me for June. The beautiful pictures, the lovely windchimes and the fantastic Noro were all unexpected and very welcome. Her good taste and thoughtfulness is overwhelming.

Back from San Francisco

I had a wonderful weekend in San Francisco. The weather was nice and cool and my son's apartment was very comfortable. The restaurants were amazing. You can get any kind of food in the world there. We went to a San Francisco Opera concert in Dolores Park, the Matthew Barney exhibit at SFMOMA and saw the Al Gore movie An Inconvenient Truth. And we ate and ate. We were two of about 10,000 in the park.
I started Backyard Leaves by Annie Modesitt for my airplane knitting. It is my second partner for The Amazing Lace. I've done about 5 repeats already and it is going along well. Here it is at the concert.
I also had a little time to visit ImagiKnits. I always do when I am in the area. I bought some nice sock yarn with a little purple in the blend of colors and some really, really fine laceweight for the Icarus shawl. I'm a little intimidated by how fine it actually is. Now I have to find some size three needles.
Speaking of purple, the Project Spectrum color for July, these flowers were across the street from my son's apartment.
